On June 1, 2019, Bruce Reinig assumed the role of interim Thomas and Evelyn Page Dean of the Fowler College of Business.

Reinig joined the San Diego State University faculty in 2000 and was chair of the Management Information Systems department.

Since taking over as interim dean, Reinig has continued to prioritize student success within the college.

“We are a college that’s deeply engaged in the business community of Southern California,” said Reinig. “We want to be an economic driver for Southern California, and we want to be an instrument of social mobility for our students.”

As a researcher, Reinig has authored or co-authored more than 60 scholarly articles, published in leading national and international information systems and decision science journals.

Reinig has earned numerous awards for his research and teaching within his department, and for his support of both graduate and undergraduate students.

At SDSU, Reinig has been named the Sports MBA Program Faculty of the Year six times, most recently in 2019. He was MSIS (Master of Science in Information Systems) Program Most Influential Professor in 2018 and 2019. He received a Teaching Excellence Award from the then-College of Business Administration in 2014; also, he received the SDSU Alumni Association Award for Outstanding Faculty Contribution for the 2010-11 year.

Though he is no longer in the classroom, he continues to encourage Fowler College of Business students to excel inside and outside of the classroom.

“One thing business students need to know is it is not enough just to complete your classes,” said Reinig. “In addition to your coursework and trying to get as much value out of those courses as you can, you need to take advantage of all that San Diego State University has to offer.”
