Summer session is just around the corner.

The two-session summer schedule at San Diego State University allows students a chance to get ahead of their degree requirements.

Taking just one summer session course can put students on track to graduate on time or leave room in their schedule for a valuable internship, study abroad experience or participation in a student organization next year.

“Students who take summer school classes may have the opportunity to graduate early or get a head start for their upcoming academic year,” said Rose Pasenelli, director of the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships. “And, as always, summer financial aid is available.”

Last summer, 8,220 students enrolled in the summer session, an increase from the 8,104 enrollees in 2018.

Another benefit of summer session is the opportunity to take online courses. This year, SDSU is offering more than 200 online courses, an increase from more than 160 online courses last summer.

Students can register for any combination of one 13-week (T1) and two six-week (S1 and S2) sessions. The first day of S1 and T1 classes is May 26, and the first day of S2 is July 7. The last day of the S1 session is July 6, and the last day of the S2 and T1 sessions is Aug. 14.

Personal registration information and the My Planner tool will be available in the SDSU WebPortal on Feb. 21, which allows students to view summer 2020 registration information and add summer courses to their planner. Registration for all summer sessions begins March 2.

Financial aid is available for students to assist with the cost of summer school. To be considered for summer financial aid, students must complete a 2019-20 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or a 2019-20 California Dream Application. More information about summer fees is available on SDSU’s Money Matters web page at sdsu.edu/sas.

Students can also visit their AidLink account for additional information.
