Many campus departments are offering virtual webinars in a variety of topics for students.

As the disruptions associated with the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic continue to impact the world, the San Diego State University community has taken the opportunity to develop creative virtual offerings to help students remain connected to campus life.

Here are several upcoming webinars hosted by departments across campus that are accessible to both students and the campus community in the areas of marketing, sustainability, fitness and studying tips:

Shining a Light on Sustainability for Earth Day

The Associated Students (A.S.) Green Love commission is hosting a virtual Green Lunchbag Series on Earth Day featuring Mandy Anhalt, director of global compliance for Sambazon, an açaí-based food and beverage company. Açaí, a grape-like fruit, is one of the fastest growing trends in the health food market and is available at a number of SDSU campus eateries.

Anhalt will discuss the importance of cultivating an ethical supply chain through labor ethics, biodiversity and waste reduction, and will explain how businesses can take accountability for their impacts on the world. Sambazon was named the world's first Fair Trade and Organic certified açaí company. Additionally, students can learn how to be more conscious consumers and what really goes into making a bowl of açaí. The event will be hosted on Zoom at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 22.

A.S. Green Love promotes and creates sustainable events and educates the greater campus community on the importance of a sustainable future. This year’s past Green Lunchbag Series events have included a panel of local cleantech startups on mitigating the climate crisis, the future sustainability of the building sector and a food waste discussion with a local zero-waste business.
