“Following the overwhelmingly positive response to Virtual Explore SDSU, we are looking forward to hosting Virtual Explore: Beyond the Classroom.”

Following a very successful Virtual Explore SDSU — the March 21 online open house that drew nearly 4,300 prospective students and parents — a second virtual event has been added to give prospective and admitted students the opportunity to learn more about San Diego State University’s academic, social and support-related offerings.

Scheduled for Saturday, April 18, Virtual Explore: Beyond the Classroom will focus on student life, financial aid, disability services, representation and inclusion at SDSU, academic programs, and more through live and recorded information sessions.

More than 50 live information sessions are scheduled. Registration is currently open for the event.

“Following the overwhelmingly positive response to Virtual Explore SDSU, we are looking forward to hosting Virtual Explore: Beyond the Classroom,” said Matthew Hebert, director of Student Recruitment and School Relations for Enrollment Services. “We were so pleased with the overwhelming numbers of admitted students from all over the state, country and world who tuned in to see what SDSU is all about during the first online event.”

Explore SDSU 2020 — an annual event that draws thousands of prospective students, parents, and community members to campus — was canceled due to health concerns associated with the coronavirus (COVID-19).

During the event, Virtual Explore participants will hear from SDSU faculty and staff in the areas of student services, student life, campus offerings and various academic programs through online sessions from departments across campus.

“I appreciate the collective and collaborative spirit we witnessed across campus between the various departments, colleges, and divisions in order to make the event happen,” said Hebert.

Moving forward, departments across campus will continue to conduct live Zoom sessions,to be added to the Explore SDSU website. SDSU Admissions will also continue to promote Virtual Explore as a resource for prospective and admitted students.

Previously recorded information sessions can be found on the Explore SDSU website, along with an opportunity to take a virtual tour of campus.
