San Diego State University, which tied for the Mountain West Conference's top goal scoring team this season, had six players named to the All-MW first and second teams and captured the conference’s player of the year and newcomer of the year honors, the league announced.

The six honorees are the most for the program since nine members of the 2015 team were selected to receive all-league recognition.

Senior midfielder Chloe Frisch was named the league's Offensive Player of the Year as well as a first-team performer. Junior striker Anna Toohey is Newcomer of the Year, a first-team honoree and is included on the All-Newcomer team.

Frisch led the Mountain West in shots (41), shots per game (4.10), shots on goal (21) and shots on goal per game (2.10), and her six goals were tied for second most in the league. Her first team All-MW honor is the second in as many seasons. Frisch is the third Aztec in the last 12 years to earn Mountain West Offensive Player of the Year, joining Cat Walker (2009) and Megan Jurado (2012).

Toohey, a transfer from North Carolina State, tied for third in shots (27) and tied for sixth in shots per game (2.70) in the Mountain West. She totaled a team and league high five assists and ranked second in the league, and led the Aztecs with 15 points. Toohey is the second Aztec to earn the Newcomer of the Year honor since the Mountain West established the award in 2016.

Senior defender Sarah Broacha, junior midfielder Laura Fuentes and freshman striker Emma Gaines-Ramos were also named members of the first team, while freshman goalkeeper Alexa Madueno received second-team recognition and is also included on the All-Newcomer team.

Broacha, a center defender, controlled the action in front of the goal and anchored the back line, earned a starting assignment in each of the team's 10 contests and among field players ranked second on the team in minutes (830). This is Broacha's first first-team All-Mountain West honor after garnering second-team accolades following the completion of last season.

Fuentes was named the conference's 2018 Newcomer of the Year and last year received her second second-team All-Mountain West nod, finishing this season second on the team in assists (4), a single-season best which tied for second in the conference. A starter in all 10 contests, she led the team's field players with 873 minutes, scored two goals.

Gaines-Ramos, in her first season as an Aztec, started in all 10 games and her three assists were tied for sixth most in the league, were the most for any freshman in the Mountain West, and ranked No. 3 among the Aztecs. Her 17 shots and eight shots on goal were the third best on the squad. This is the first All-Mountain West honor for Gaines-Ramos.

Madueno played every minute in goal for the Aztecs this year. Facing a total of 101 shots, she stopped 30 of the 41 that reached her line, a save percentage of 0.732, and surrendered one or fewer goals in seven games.

The Aztecs will next play on the road at New Mexico in the Mountain West title match for a berth in the NCAA Tournament. The game is scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m. PDT and will be carried on the Mountain West Network.
