Explore SDSU 2022 to Offer Virtual, In-Person Sessions
Explore SDSU offers prospective and admitted students an in-depth look at the opportunities available to them on campus including academics, financial aid, campus life and athletics.
Explore SDSU will be held both virtually and in-person this year to provide prospective and admitted students the opportunity to learn all about the advantages of becoming a member of the San Diego State University community.
The open house is scheduled for two sessions, one in-person and one virtually, with one day dedicated to both prospective and admitted students and the other to only admitted students.
“We are thrilled to once again offer Explore SDSU in-person this year while continuing to provide opportunities for prospective students to engage with our community online,” said Stefan Hyman, associate vice president for enrollment management.
The virtual session will be offered Saturday, March 12, and will be tailored for both prospective and admitted students.
There are more than 80 live sessions scheduled for this day with a number of others that will be prerecorded and available for prospective and admitted students to view on demand.
The in-person session is scheduled for Saturday, April 9,, and is tailored specifically for admitted students.
Academic departments and student organizations will be tabling across campus throughout the day to offer information, answer questions and provide a glimpse into what it is like as a member of the SDSU community.
Both sessions will include information about admissions, academic programs and financial aid as well as student life, athletics and diversity and inclusion. At both sessions, participants will hear from faculty and staff representing different colleges, and learn about SDSU’s admissions and financial aid processes.
As is tradition at Explore SDSU events, admitted students will learn about the steps to enroll and be given the opportunity to reserve their spot at SDSU.
“Our admissions counselors will be on hand to assist any admitted student who wishes to commit to SDSU while they are visiting our campus for Explore SDSU on April 9,” said Matthew Hebert, director of student recruitment and school relations. “This is an exciting day for our campus community and our faculty, staff, and current students are all looking forward to engaging with newly admitted students and their families throughout the day.”
To help attendees plan for both the virtual and in-person days, SDSU will be offering a mobile phone application that will share information about each day’s information sessions and allow them to create a personalized and effective schedule.
The mobile app is available for iOS and Android devices and can be found in the App Store and Google Play store under the name “Explore SDSU Open House.”
This will be SDSU’s third Explore event amid the coronavirus pandemic and the university has responded quickly and learned from the last two years. The Explore SDSU committee remains committed to providing this valuable event to admitted and prospective students and their families in ways that are safe but also educational and impactful.
