SDSU Social Calendar: December Events You Can't Miss!
The last showings of the semester come as everyone prepares for the holidays.
While the end of any semester can be overwhelming, SDSU is offering multiple events to de-stress and recharge before going into finals. Take a brief study break to refocus and have some fun while you do it!
Here are a few activities to lift everyone’s spirits!
Little Luxury Spa
Relax and unwind at a pop-up spa event on campus! In collaboration with the Your Mental Health Matters Campaign, the Aztec Student Union is hosting Little Luxury Spa from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 5.
SDSU Javanese Gamelan Ensemble
The final installment of the World Music Series this semester, SDSU School of Music and Dance presents the Javanese Gamelan Ensemble at 6 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 5 in Smith Recital Hall.
How the Grinch Stole Christmas Movie Night
It's the, the, the… THE GRINCH! Get in the Christmas spirit by enjoying How the Grinch Stole Christmas in the Aztec Union Theatre. This movie night is taking place from 6:30 p.m.-9:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 5 from Snacks will be provided.
Winter Wonderland
The holiday season is finally here! Come out to the Courtyard of the Student Union on Wednesday, Dec. 7 from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. to decorate cookies and wrap gifts! You will also be able to write letters to your loved ones for the holiday season.
Intro to Backpacking Clinic
Do you love going backpacking? Are you interested in trying it out for the first time? The Intro to Backpacking Clinic is just for you! From 4 p.m.-6 p.m.Wednesday, Dec. 7, the Aztec Recreation Center (ARC) is hosting a free class. Here you will learn about different types of gear from backpacks to water filtration. After this class, you will be ready to go on a great adventure! Register on the Aztec Recreation App starting Nov. 23rd at 3 pm. Don’t forget to click the Aztec Adventures Icon!
Greenfest: Battle of the Bands
Greenfest is on the way! Scheduled for 5 p.m.-7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 8, Greenfest will be all about the Battle of the Bands in Montezuma Hall. Last year’s Greenfest headliner was the rapper Gunna, who capped off a week of educational programming supporting sustainability and climate activism on SDSU’s campus.
Annual 2022 Kwanzaa Celebration
Black Resource Center and the African Student Union present the annual 2022 Kwanzaa celebration. The event will take place at 7 p.m.Friday, Dec. 9 in the Parma Payne Goodall Alumni center. The dress code is semi-formal and/or cultural attire, and guests are encouraged to RSVP to ensure their spot.
Hike El Cajon Mountain Meet-up
Join Aztec Adventure for a hike up El Cajon Mountain! They will guide you through the mountains, prepare you for the hike and offer training plans for whoever needs it. The program is $20 for SDSU students. A daypack, water bottles, lunch, and snacks are included. Get ready for the adventure on Saturday, Dec. 10 from 8 a.m. - 3 p.m. Be sure to register on the Aztec Recreation App.
The Majorette Nutcracker
Tired of the same old Christmas play? Are you trying to get into the holiday spirit? The Majorette Nutcracker is the show for you! Presented by B. June Studios and the SDSU Diamonds, the Majorette Nutcracker will be a show unlike any other you’ve seen before. Get ready to go on an urban musical journey featuring music from past and present hip-hop and R&B icons. The event will take place on Sunday, Dec. 11 at 5 p.m. in the Student Union Theatre.
