All Roads Lead Home for SDSU Homecoming 2023
Festivities kickoff the last week of October.
For 2023’s homecoming theme, “All Roads Lead Home,” San Diego State University is taking an evocative approach connecting past, present and future Aztecs. This year, the newly revealed homecoming logo honors the iconic structures known to generations of students, faculty and staff who’ve called SDSU home.
Inside the logo’s circular design is a path leading up to line art images depicting SDSU’s ageless landmarks, Hepner Hall and Hardy Memorial Tower, alongside SDSU Imperial Valley’s distinct Ballesteros Tower and the Steppling Art Gallery, the latter whose facade is a tribute to the Aztec feathered headdress.
“With the design, the steering committee was trying to capture the nostalgia of SDSU as our home,” said Jennifer Ranallo, alumni relations specialist. “For some, that means the iconic design of Hepner Hall, and for others, it’s the Conrad Prebys Aztec Student Union.”
SDSU Homecoming 2023 festivities begin Oct. 30 and culminate with the Nov. 4 football game at Snapdragon against Utah State.
This year, there’s a bigger emphasis on the inclusion of SDSU Imperial Valley’s campus, which will include a public watch party for the game.
“It was important for us to incorporate SDSU Imperial Valley as well, as the campus is an integral part of our SDSU history,” said Ranallo.
Events for the weeklong celebration are yet to be announced but Ranallo said Aztecs can expect traditional activities such as the Wreath-Laying Ceremony at the SDSU War Memorial, NPHC (National Pan-Hellenic Council) Yard Show and Homecoming Fun Run for Aztecs Rock Hunger.
Tickets for the homecoming game are available through GoAztecs.
