The San Diego State men’s soccer team (3-3-2) played UC Davis (4-2-2) to a 3-3 draw in front of a program record breaking crowd of 3,802 fans at Snapdragon Stadium Saturday evening.
All three of the Aztec goals gave them the lead only to see the Aggies come back to tie it up each time.Austin Brummett,Terence OkoegualeandRobbie Mateiall scored and Okoeguale and Matei each had an assist.
“What a night for college soccer in San Diego,” Head coachRyan Hopkinssaid after the match. “We really appreciate the support from the school and the fans, helping us set another school record with nearly 4,000 fans here tonight.”
The Aztecs wasted no time, scoring their first goal just 16 seconds into the match when assists from Matei andRommee Jaridlyset up anAustin Brummettgoal. Brummett leads the team with four goals on the year.
The Aggies tied it up in the 30thminute on a goal from Kegan Walwyn-Bent, his first of two on the night.
In the final minute of the first half, both teams traded goals. First the Aztecs scored with 47 seconds left in the half when Okoeguale finished an assist fromUlises Esquivel.
Just 17 seconds later, UC Davis answered with a bender from the corner from Declan Horio.
SDSU retook the lead in the 55thminute when Matei and Okoeguale connected on a give-and-go.
The Aggies scored the equalizer in the 82ndminute on a rocket from Walwyn-Bent.
Aztec goalkeeperDjibril Doumbiacollected a season-high six saves.
