Exciting events  are on tap for the month of October at San Diego State University that promise fun, food, inspiration, and a hint of spookiness.

Kick off the month with a sizzling Carne Asada Cookout, where you can savor a delicious mix of flavors from the Latinx and Black communities. Make new friends at the Building Belonging Picnic on the Patio, a welcoming social mixer for queer and gender-expansive students. 

For thrill-seekers, an exciting trip to Howl-O-Scream at SeaWorld promises a night of fun and fright. Discover the many global traditions on campus at Cultural Hour at the International Student Center. Whether you’re an International student or interested in experiencing our diverse cultures, come and enjoy free food and drinks at the center. 

Experience laughter and adventure at the SDSU Go! Dracula: A Comedy of Terrors event. Our exciting list of recommendations culminates with the inspiring Women in STEM Annual Lecture featuring distinguished women guest speakers in the field of engineering and science — a must for anyone passionate about innovation.

Carne Asada Cookout
Noon-3 p.m., Oct. 3
Gus & Emma Thompson Black Resource Center
Join us for a delicious cookout hosted by the LRC & BRC. This event highlights the richness of both the Black and Latinx cultures through music, delicious food, performance and education about both of our communities. Bring your friends and family for a fun time together.

Building Belonging: Picnic on the Patio
Noon- 1:30 p.m., Oct. 8
The Pride Center
Hosted by The Pride Center, this series of social mixers is designed for queer and/or gender-expansive students from diverse backgrounds, including BIPOC, non-traditional-aged, parenting, STEM, graduate, transfer, and commuter students.

SDSU Go! Howl-O-Scream
4-11 p.m., Oct. 12
Off Campus - SeaWorld
Join us for an exhilarating trip to Howl-O-Scream at SeaWorld. Your ticket and transportation are covered—just bring your enthusiasm and adventurous spirit. Registration opens on Sept. 16 and closes at 9 a.m.Oct. 6; sign up online.

Cultural Hour
Noon-1:30 p.m., Oct. 18
International Student Center
Join us every Friday for Cultural Hour at the International Student Center. Open to the entire SDSU community, enjoy free food and drinks while learning about different cultures.

SDSU Go! Dracula: A Comedy of Terrors
11 a.m.-4 p.m., Oct. 19
Off Campus - The Old Globe
Get ready for laughs and thrills at "Dracula: A Comedy of Terrors." Your ticket and transportation are included. Registration opens on Sept. 23  and closes at 9 a.m. Oct. 11;, you can sign up online.

Women in STEM Annual Lecture
6 to 8 p.m, Oct. 21
Parma Payne Goodall Alumni Center
Join us for our annual Women in STEM Lecture at the Parma Payne Goodall Alumni Center, featuring Dawn Wright, Chief Scientist of Esri. This event is part of a series showcasing exceptional women scientists and engineers. Please RSVP to attend.
