SDSU Global Campus has teamed up with global online learning platform Coursera to offer SDSU students, alumni and the SDSU community exclusive access to dozens of professional development opportunities in a wide range of courses taught by industry leaders like Google, IBM, and Meta.

As part of SDSU Global Campus’ commitment to providing high-quality training that prepares learners for the demands of today’s workforce, students can access hundreds of educational video courses, and earn professional certificates and specializations through Coursera Career Academy. The courses and workforce skills plans are fully online.

"Global Campus is thrilled to offer Career Academy to our learners in San Diego and around the world,” said SDSU Global Campus Dean Ian Gibson. “This new suite of online programs was built by industry giants like Google and Meta to teach the skills required to succeed in today’s workforce. These quick, affordable programs are a powerful opportunity to gain industry-relevant education that opens doors and advances careers."

With Career Academy from Coursera, students gain access to professional certificates taught by instructors from companies  that include Google, Meta and IBM. These certificates come with guided projects, tool training courses and microcredentials. Coursera said its learners often report career benefits like landing a new job, getting a promotion or gaining practical skills, and that the courses also hold benefits for recent college graduates making a first career move.

Career Academy from Coursera can help students reach their goals by helping them discover entry-level roles and career paths, learn about common job titles and skill requirements, and build confidence while they develop a portfolio of work. The partnership is aligned with SDSU’s strategic priorities to help prepare students for the global workforce.

“The Coursera training on Human Resources and job design was a game-changer for me,” said Andrew Soliz, associate director of industry relations for SDSU Career Services. “I gained practical skills in forecasting and succession planning that will help me identify and develop future leaders in our organization. Learning about career pathing and dual career ladders gave me new ways to support employees in achieving their career goals while building cross-functional expertise.”
