About the Major
The speech, language and hearing sciences major will allow you to learn about human communication, speech, langauge, swallowing, and hearing across the lifespan for individuals with and without communication disorders. The bachelor's degree will prepare students for further graduate education or other applied careers.
Program Highlights
Through our curriculum of academic coursework and research opportunities, students will gain an understanding of human communication, speech, langauge, swallowing, and hearing across the lifespan for individuals with and without communication disorders. Students develop transferrable skills in oral and written communication, critical thinking, problem-solving, cultural competence, and evidence-based decision making.

Career Options
Positions in speech, language, and hearing sciences are available in many public and private settings working with persons with speech, language, and hearing, deaf-blind disorders. Graduates with certification or licensure work in rehabilitation centers, schools, hospitals, research, and university teaching and research centers. Career opportunities are particularly good for minority, bilingual or bicultural persons.
