About the Major
Motivated to take on the many pressing environmental issues facing the nation and the world? The SDSU sustainability program enables you to explore the interacting cultural, sociopolitical, and biophysical aspects of complex environmental problems and devise practical solutions.
Program Highlights
As a sustainability major, you’ll learn concepts and methodologies from the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences to gain an interdisciplinary understanding of environmental concerns.

Career Options
Many of our graduates pursue careers in the areas of public lands, parks, and natural resource management; environmental conservation and restoration; environmental education; and environmental planning. Other graduates go on to professional and graduate schools in environmental advocacy, energy, private consulting, law, natural resource management, social sciences, and the humanities.
