SDSU President Adela de la Torre and Mayor Kevin Faulconer released a joint statement following the approval of the purchase and sale agreement for SDSU Mission Valley.

Former member of The Campanile Foundation Board of Directors Terry Atkinson (70) is making a $1 million gift to create an endowed professorship and support SDSU Mission Valley.

The city council, during a special meeting on May 29, gave its final direction on and approval of the purchase and sale agreement for the Mission Valley site.

Approval enables SDSU to continue preparation for the 35,000-capacity Aztec Stadium.

CSU green lights a major milestone for the project, which aims to break ground early this year.

Mrs. Dianne L. Bashors generosity provides a lead gift for SDSUs Aztec Stadium at the proposed Mission Valley project.

The university intends to build a world-class campus, new multi-use stadium, and a much-anticipated community river park.

SDSUs updated offer is scheduled to go before San Diego City Council for consideration on Nov. 18.

Fair market value and other commitments equate to more than $150 million in value for the City of San Diego.
